What is Areola Repigmentation?
Areola repigmentation is a specialty area of tattooing that requires advanced experience as well as technique. This procedure helps improve the appearance and self-esteem of both women and men who have undergone breast surgery. Areola repigmentation techniques can “create” an areola after breast reconstruction, minimize the appearance of scars, or restore an areola to a more natural-looking color and shape. Areola repigmentation may also be called areola tattooing, areola micropigmentation, areola pigmentation, areola recoloring or areola simulation.
How does areola repigmentation help people after breast surgery?
The areola is part of the human breast in both women and men. It is a circular area of skin around the nipple that is often darker and thicker than the surrounding skin. The areola plays a key role in the aesthetic look of a breast. Since a woman’s self-image can depend on the appearance of her breasts, a missing areola can be psychologically devastating. A woman can survive breast cancer after undergoing a mastectomy, and she can regain her figure with a breast reconstruction. However, she may not feel “complete” without an areola. A woman can become emotionally distressed from a scarred areola as well. A man’s self-esteem can also be lowered by the appearance of his chest and breasts. Areola tattooing provides the “finishing touch” after breast surgery. Patients feel the tattooing process helps them during the last part of their recovery to look complete and feel “whole” and “normal” again. This is the goal, to do everything possible for those that have gone through so much already, to help them feel “normal” again.
What is Areola-nipple complex simulation?
This procedure is for patients who have had breast reconstruction after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Cosmetic tattooing techniques and color pigments are used to create the appearance of an areola. For a unilateral mastectomy patient, this process helps the reconstructed breast to match the natural breast. For patients with bilateral breast reconstruction, both areolas are recreated. Areola complex simulation can be achieved with or without a nipple button created by the surgeon.
What is Areola size or color adjustment?
The color of an areola can be darkened, balanced or enhanced with tattooing. The process helps women who have discolored or lightened areolas after breastfeeding or patients who have had areola graft surgery. Patients with skin discoloration disorders can also benefit from areola tattooing. Also, individuals who have not had breast surgery, but are self-conscious about their areola color or size (too light or too small) may choose this procedure to adjust their appearance.
What is Areola scar camouflage?
Many breast operations require one or more incisions at or around the edge of the areola, which may produce scarring. The most common peri-areolar scars are from breast augmentation or reduction surgeries. A scar’s appearance can be softened, blended or reduced by tattooing the areola scar using corrective pigment camouflage techniques.
What is permanent makeup?
It is the micro-implantation of coloring pigments into the skin for aesthetic purposes to enhance, contour, and outline facial features. It is also a valuable procedure for camouflaging scars, burns, skin pigmentation variances caused by vitiligo, correcting some facial irregularities, or to further enhance facial rejuvenation and post-operative treatments.
Is permanent makeup similar to tattooing?
It has some of the same qualities, yet it is very different. Only licensed specialists in micro-pigmentation can perform this procedure on the face; tattoo artists cannot. Skin Studio Okc uses only the techniques, tools, and pigments specifically designed for micro-pigmentation procedures, making it safe and sterile.
How are microblading and micropigmentation different?
Microblading:
- Semi permanent procedure lasting between 12-18 months.
- Hair-like strokes are drawn on then traced over, inserting pigment with a handheld tool.
- Procedure takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete.
- Healing process takes between 7-14 days.
- Touch-up appointments are recommended after 8 weeks.
Micropigmention (PMU):
- Permanent procedure lasting between three and seven years.
- Hair-like strokes are drawn on using a fine artist paint brush and traced over with a digital hand-held electric device which inserts pigment 1-2 mm under the skins surface.
- Minimal discomfort with topical numbing cream.
- Procedure takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete with a 1 hour consultation.
- Healing process take between 7-14 days.
- Touch-up appointments are recommended 8-12 weeks.
Is permanent makeup a safe procedure?
At Skin Studio Okc, the procedures are performed under sterile conditions, using only disposable needle cartridges and with digitally controlled implantation device. There are no long-term side effects; short-term effects may include some redness, swelling, and tenderness. On the day of your consultation, a required patch test is completed to check for any possible issues with pigment. Safety first!
Is there any discomfort associated with the procedure?
Skin Studio Okc uses prescription lidocaine based compounded topical for numbing with all microblading procedures, with PMU she goes into a deeper level of the dermis and it requires a different numbing tool. We will discuss your options when you come in for your consultation. As with any procedure that punctures or “injures” the skin, it will have some minor discomfort post treatment. A tattoo is an injury and it follows a normal healing reaction. If you are allergic to lidocaine, any “caine” or epinephrine based numbing product please let me know immediately.
How long does the procedure take to complete?
The average time required for a procedure is between one to two and a half hours.
What kind of healing time is involved? Is any care required after the procedure?
Some swelling and redness can be expected for 24-72 hours following the procedure. The treated area must be kept clean. No makeup should be applied for several days. Some skin peeling and lightening of the applied color is normal. If any additional adjustments are desired, these will be made during your follow-up appointment. Tanning, swimming, or vigorous exercise should be avoided for a few days. Normal healing times is between 7-14 days. Tonya Cameron RN will review all Pre-Procedure Care in detail at your consultation and Post Care when you come in for your procedure.
How is the specific desired look and shades of coloring determined?
Tonya Cameron RN CMP conducts an extensive consultation regarding both the exact contouring and coloring desired. The patient will give final approval on color and shape of outline. You will need to bring in the pencil, powder or lip color you are wanting to match with you to your consultation and also your procedure appointment. Tonya will demonstrate expected results by applying penciled makeup on you before implanting the color into the skin.
How is Skin Studio Okc different from other permanent makeup specialists?

How long does permanent makeup last?
Gradual fading can be expected for all micro-pigmentation procedures. This varies among people and is dependent on the specific shade used. Most colors last two to five years, although some may not fade for as long as 10 years. Periodic touchups are recommended to maintain the desired look. Permanent makeup longevity is directly affected by exposure to sun, skin resurfacing products as well as chemical services and laser treatments.
How long should I wait before I can have permanent makeup applied after Botox, injectables, chemical peels or laser treatments?
You should wait 4-6 weeks before or after any permanent makeup procedure is performed to do any Botox, injectable, chemical or laser treatment.
Is it best to have lip filler done before or after having my lips tattooed?
Restylane, Juvederm or any other lip volumizer can be used to further enhance the fullness of your lips and to diminish the appearance of lines around the mouth. The lip liner will not “run” or feather into the vertical lines around the lips. The color will saturate more affectively if you have filler done prior to having your lips tattooed. I would recommend having any lip filler done 4-6 weeks before getting your lips tattooed.
I have had a joint replacement, heart valve replacement or I take antibiotics before I go to the dentist, can I receive PMU or microblading?
Yes! A prescription antibiotic will be required for you to take one hour before we begin your PMU/Microblading procedure. I will call it in to your pharmacy, you will need to take the prescription one hour before your tattoo appointment. You will also need to take another antibiotic for any future touch ups.
What is Tixel technology?
Tixel is the first and only Thermal-Mechanical Action TechnologyTM, for superior skin
resurfacing results on all skin types – No lasers. No needles. No radiation. No pain. No social
downtime.
How does Thermal-Mechanical Action (TMA) TechnologyTM work?
Thermal-Mechanical Action TechnologyTM combines direct heat with precisely controlled
contact time on skin. A self-sterilizing titanium tip with 81 blunt micro-pyramids is heated
to 400 degrees Celsius, which pulses to contact the skin briefly. Each pulse creates tiny
micro-coagulation sites, which result in neocollagenesis- also known as new collagen
growth. It is not invasive and the stratum corneum remains intact.
How is Tixel different from an Intense Pulsed Light?
Tixel is not a light-based treatment like IPL. Instead, it utilizes heat applied directly to the
skin in a controlled manner to create a superficial fractional coagulation sites. This system
transfers less heat to the surrounding tissues than IPL, so it is safe to use in patients with
dark skin and melasma. While IPL is a better choice for treatment of superficial pigment, it
does not offer the tightening and resurfacing that Tixel does.
How is Tixel different from microneedling and RF microneedling?
Primarily, Tixel is non-invasive, whereas microneedling treatments with and without RF are
invasive. Additionally, both providers and patients report more visible tightening and wrinkle
reduction with Tixel when compared to microneedling and RF microneedling.
Unlike microneedling, there is no bleeding and patients report that Tixel is more
comfortable, and there is no “unpleasant buzzing.”
Compared to RF microneedling, patients also report that Tixel is less painful. Additionally,
Tixel transfers notably less energy/heat to the surrounding tissue than RF microneedling,
making Tixel safe to use with melasma patients.
How is Tixel different from a fractional ablative laser?
Tixel is not a laser. At higher settings, providers report similar results to their fractional
ablative lasers. With the Tixel, the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin)
remains intact, making it an easier recovery with significantly less downtime. Patients have
no oozing or bleeding and report significantly less swelling.
Additionally, Tixel patients can apply sunscreen and makeup just 24 hours post-treatment,
allowing patients to return to normal activities quickly and without visible wound healing
What does it feel like?
Tixel is well-tolerated. Many patients can be treated without anesthetic. Use of chilled air
and topical numbing may increase patient comfort. Most patients report feeling heat at the
treatment site. They occasionally report a mild sharp sensation that they describe as like
microneedling, but less intense.
Are there any potential adverse effects?
Tixel is well-tolerated. Our team goes through rigorous trainings to ensure the safe use of
these devices. In the same manner as all fractional skin treatment devices, there is some
risk of: temporary swelling longer than few hours, which does not recover without treatment,
skin redness longer than two weeks, pain or burning sensation longer than a few hours/is
not tolerable, the forming of large scabs or scabs lasting more than 15 days, significant/thick
skin peeling or any peeling lasting more than 2 weeks, hyper pigmentation, hypo
pigmentation, sensitivity to sun exposure, local burns, scars, herpes simplex, and local
bacterial infection. In the case of any occurrence of any side-complications or adverse
effects, it is imperative to consult with your physician within a short period.
How many treatments does it take?
For skin rejuvenation, we recommend 3 treatments, scheduled once every 4 to 6 weeks,
followed by one to two maintenance treatments within the year. If you are treating a more
difficult issue, like acne scarring, or you are using lower settings, it may take more
treatments.
How much downtime after Tixel treatment?
Because the outermost layer of the skin remains intact after Tixel treatment, downtime is
minimal. Of course, lower settings result in less downtime than more aggressive settings.
Individual responses will vary based off settings used, patient genetic factors, compliance
with post-care instructions, and overall skin health. Typically, patients are advised that they
may have up to 3 days of mild swelling (especially around the eyes) and roughness to their
skin for 5 to 7 days. Patients may wear makeup after 24 hours, and most return to normal
activity (including social interaction and work) within hours post-treatment.
How much does a treatment cost?
Cost is individualized per customer. Make sure to set up a consultation to get accurate
treatment costs for your custom treatments.
Freckles are a fun and fresh addition to your face. They are a very easy natural looking treatment with a short healing time of less than 5-7 days. You can expect face tattoos to last 12-24 months. And they are totally cute!
Do I need to book a consultation first?
I require a consultation prior to any PMU or Microblading procedure. I need to assess your skin and medical history, discuss your options, complete a patch test and make a plan for what you are wanting. Save photos for me to look at on IG or bring in a look you like.
How is this different from a 'regular' tattoo?
Cosmetic tattooing is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement of the facial features, rather than creating distinct artwork on the body. Usually we're trying to create the appearance of something you would expect to be there already such as hair, makeup, freckles, beauty marks etc.
The ink
The colour pigments used for cosmetic tattoos differ in that they are meant to fade over time. This allows changes to be made to the tattoo, and the colour and shape can be adjusted over the years as your preferences and features change. Most of the pigments used are iron-oxide based.
Tools and technique
A rotary tattoo machine is used for freckles, beauty marks, shading, and some other techniques. I tattoo eyebrows with fine hair-like strokes using a manual tool. This tattooing technique is often called microblading because the lines are created with a tiny 'blade' which is actually a very tight, flat, angled needle configuration. This tool is used to cut or scratch fine lines into the dermis and deposit the pigment into the skin. This technique allows for a lot of control and fine, crisp healed lines.
Does it hurt?
Effective, topical anesthetics are used for numbing before and during the procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entire process. Ideally you should feel little to no pain, only pressure. It can sometimes feel like scratching or threading.
Preparing for your tattoo in advance really does make a big difference in how much pain and swelling you may experience. Make sure that you are well rested, sober, hydrated, and have had something to eat prior to your appointment.
For most clients, redness and swelling is minimal.
What is the first appointment like?
For freckles we will draw them and lay them out on your face with the same ink we will use to tattoo them once we're happy with our design. Appointment times usually vary between 1-2 hours. Numbing cream is not usually used but it is optional.
How long will my cosmetic tattoo last?
The tattoo is permanent in that it will not wash off. However, it will fade over time and will likely need to be refreshed on a regular basis to maintain its appearance. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including the pigment color used (lighter, warmer colors fade faster), your lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any aggressive chemical or laser treatments come into contact with the tattoo. Everybody will be different and it will largely come down to your personal preference. Our faces get a lot of exposure from everything, and we tend to look at them a lot. Many clients come back for a touch-up every 10-14 months on average.
Touch-ups are normal for Permanent Makeup procedures, with each new procedure usually requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure is followed by a free touch-up session within 8-12 weeks to assess the results and perfect. Some clients may require additional sessions to achieve the desired outcome. Future touch-ups are discounted to keep your brows looking their best! (See pricing)
What should I do before my procedure?
- If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan this trip a minimum 2 weeks after a procedure or touch up.
- We also request that clients avoid prescription blood thinners (if possible) for 24 hours prior to their appointment. This also includes Vitamin E, Aspirin and Alcohol.
- Your skin must be fully healed from any chemical, laser or other treatments or injuries to be tattooed.
- No sunburned or wind chapped facial skin.
- Skin should be kept clean, moisturized daily (am & pm) every day for one week before your appointment. Drinking water is a good thing!
How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?
Redness and swelling are normal and will be significantly reduced within a few hours. The healing process is similar to a small tattoo, scrape or sunburn.
Your cosmetic tattoo will appear slightly darker, sharper and bigger than expected for the first few days. It may feel dry, tight or itchy as a light scab forms and flakes off to reveal a new layer of skin underneath. This process is the superficial healing and usually takes 5-7 days. It may appear lighter immediately after this stage and the colour will settle in over the next few weeks after the skin has completely healed. Healing times and experiences will vary from person to person.
It is extremely important to follow our aftercare instructions for good results.
What should I do after the procedure?
- During the healing process, please carefully follow the aftercare instructions provided. Take good care of yourself and your healing tattoo.
- Once healed, limit exposure of the tattooed area to sun. Avoid chemical or laser treatments directly on the tattooed areas.
- Once healed, limit exposure of the tattooed area to sun. Avoid chemical or laser treatments directly on the tattooed areas.
- Keeping your skin moisturized helps your tattoo (and your skin!) look more vibrant.
What exactly is scalp Micropigmentation and who is it for?
Scalp PMU or SMP is a specialized application of tattoo that when done correctly is undetectable. SMP is an art that mimics the appearance of hair follicles wherever there is hair loss. Scalp Micropigmentation is a form of natural looking simulated hair follicles. As an advanced cosmetic tattoo procedure Tonya Cameron RN CMP will carry out a detailed consultation and in depth discussion about the specific style you wish to achieve and to check your suitability for the treatment, before beginning to implant thousands of miniature pigment deposits into the scalp using specialist equipment to create the illusion of freshly shaven follicles. This type of scalp camouflage is predominantly sought after by male clients who wish to address receding hair lines and premature balding on the frontalis and crown areas of the head, it’s also suitable for; Men and women who suffer from androgenic alopecia (standard pattern hair loss), alopecia areata (partial baldness), alopecia totalis (total hair loss), females with fine or thinning hair who are looking to create density in specific areas, clients who suffer from stress related disorders such as Telogen Effluvium, people who have undergone hair transplant surgery over 12 months ago and wish to enhance patches where regrowth was not as prominent as other areas, or individuals who are keen to minimalist scar visibility on their scalp caused by reconstructive surgery or injury. Many people who have had previous hair transplants can benefit from treating hypopigmentation with SMP to cover scars left behind from the previous surgical procedure.
Why SMP for hair loss?
Hair loss is on the rise. We encounter more and more men and women experiencing hair loss at such young ages. SMP offers a permanent, natural, realistic, as well as a cost-effective option to hide hair loss and restore confidence.
Are the techniques used by scalp PMU artists the same as those used to create standard permanent makeup looks?
Scalp Micropigmentation Artists are usually licensed Medical PMU Technicians who combine foundation skills acquired throughout their original training, with advanced techniques and medical micropigmentation methods to create natural looking 2 two dimensional simulated hair follicles.
Are PMU pigments and tattoo inks suitable for scalp micropigmentation?
No, you may see some brands in both genres selling scalp tattoo pigments alongside PMU color ranges, the scalp range would have been specifically designed and modified to suit hair follicle simulation which requires the use of pure dark inks to avoid discoloration and color imbalances which can presenting over time and leave hues of blue if incorrect products have been used as the scalp becomes exposed to UV rays, products containing alcohol which can strip the color and the body’s immune system which will naturally repel foreign bodies.
How many treatments will an average client with total baldness require?
As a general rule 2-3 treatments will be needed. After an initial detailed consultation where hair loss is measured and different styles discussed, the first procedure will be carried out to implant pigment evenly over the scalp and create the new hairline. The second treatment will introduce more colour saturation and 2 dimensional shading with more pigmented dots being added which will be further enhanced during a third session if required.
bodies.
Does SMP only work for shaved heads?
No, it varies depending on the person. We do full density jobs on longer hair meaning we give the appearance of more hair and darkening the area where the hair loss is visible. If someone wants to recreate the hairline the hair will have to be shorter. These situations best case scenario is to send multiple clear photos to 405-202-4427 or email them to me at contact@skinstudiookc.com.
How long does each session last?
Depending on the skill and experience of the technician the procedure can take between 3-4 hours. Speed however should not be a primary concern as the finished result and precision application is more important than quickness.
Does scalp pigmentation last forever?
Scalp pigmentation will fade over time, however it’s important to remember that it’s a form of tattooing, so once implanted is permanent. Depending on lifestyle choices, a client’s immune response and exposure to UV rays and scalp products which can lighten pigmentation, a refresher is generally advised on a 1 to 1 basis with some clients requiring a top up after 3 years and others remaining happy with the color for up to 10 years after the initial treatment.
Is the treatment painful and will a numbing cream be used?
Initially the procedure may feel a little uncomfortable with a sensation similar to light scratching being felt, however as time progresses, the client will begin to get used to the procedure and start to relax. Topical numbing is always an option.
How will the scalp look immediately after treatment?
The scalp may be slightly red immediately after treatment however this will only last for a couple of hours. A protective balm will be provided by Tonya Cameron RN CMP for you to use during your healing process.
Can scalp Micropigmentation be removed if I’m not happy with the treatment?
I would never encourage anyone to go ahead with a treatment if you are unsure as to whether you will like the outcome. It is possible to remove scalp micropigmentation by laser tattoo removal using a Q-Switch ND:YAG, which will be carried out by an licensed medical provider.
Does SMP work for those that have or will have grey or white hair in the future?
Absolutely, the pigment we use is based on a shade of grey which if any hair is shaved down would be. This is also where expertise comes out and knowing the right mixture for each individual client, as well as the proper blending to make sure it looks natural and ages with you as you do.
What is the Cost of SMP?
This is pretty customized depending on the amount of hair loss. On average though it’s $1,500-4,500.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a manual semi permanent tattoo method which does not use a normal permanent makeup machine. Microblading is done by using a unique hand instrument with a small row of very fine needles that deposit pigment into the Epidermis with slicing, feathering strokes. The pigment is implanted in the basal membrane, which divides the Epidermis from the Dermis layer of the skin. This creates very crisp, fine hair strokes that don’t blur after healing like you would experience with a traditional permanent makeup machine.
How long does it last?
It can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years. Everyone holds pigment differently based on sun/wind exposure, topical resurfacing agents, body acidity, proper nutrition and hydration.
Does it hurt?
This is designed to be a gentle procedure with minimal discomfort. The degree of discomfort will depend on several factors, such as if you opt for anesthetics, location of the treatment, and your pain threshold. In the beginning you will feel a scratching feeling while we are marking the shape and design of the brow. A second numbing agent is then applied once the skin is open which is absorbed into the skin within a few seconds. Once it has absorbed, you will have very little feeling. Do not take CBD or Medical Marijuana before your procedure.
Can microblading cover a previous tattoo or a scar?
Yes, microblading and all other brow techniques offered here can cover minor scars or previous eyebrow tattoos or microblading procedures that have faded. Please contact us first to send us a photo so we can determine whether you are a good candidate for Microblading or if another technique is recommended for your cover-up or correction.
Can I get microblading done if I am pregnant or breast feeding?
Although there has been little scientific medical research done on this topic since microblading is relatively new, our policy is that we do not perform microblading or shading during pregnancy or nursing.
Non-Candidates:
- Pregnant or nursing
- Diabetic patients
- HIV, Hepatitis, or any other viral infections and/or diseases
- Undergoing Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
- If you do not generally heal well and develop infections easily
- Directly after Botox treatment (after 1 month is allowed)
- Use of Accutane, Isoltretinoin, or other retinoids (after 3 months is allowed))
- If you have a pacemaker, this manual method can be used, but any machine use is not allowed)
- Very sensitive and pain intolerant
- Sunburn, windburn, frostbitten or severely dehydrated skin (allowed after symptoms are gone)
- Seborrhea Dermatitis
- Excessive sebum
- Oily skin
- Problem skin broken capillaries
- Acne on treatment area
- Moles on treatment area
- Keratosis
- Very dry or peeling skin on treatment area
Possible Risks, Hazards, or Complications
- Pain: There can be pain even after the topical anesthetic has been used. Anesthetics work better on some people than on others.
- Infection: Infection is very unusual. The areas treated must be kept clean, and only freshly cleaned hands should touch the areas. See “After Care” for instruction on care.
- Uneven Pigmentation: This can result from poor healing, infection, bleeding, or many other causes. Your touch-up appointment will likely correct any uneven appearanc.
- Asymmetry: Every effort will be made to avoid asymmetry, but our faces are not symmetrical so adjustments may be needed during the follow-up session to correct any unevenness.
- Excessive Swelling or Bruising: Some people bruise or swell more than others. Ice packs may help reduce the swelling. The swelling or bruising typically disappears in 1-5 days.
- Anesthetics: Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area to be tattooed. Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine, and/or Epinephrine cream and/or liquid are used. If you are allergic to any of these, please inform me now.
- MRI: Because pigments used in Permanent Cosmetic procedures contain iron oxides, a low level magnet may be required if you need to be scanned by an MRI machine. You must inform your MRI Technician of any tattoos or permanent cosmetics.
What is the healing process like after Micoblading?
Depending on your age and body regeneration, the complete healing process may take 6 to 8 weeks.
There are several phases during the healing cycle. Right after your appointment your eyebrow color will look very natural. By the next day the pigment will appear much darker.
Do not worry!
They will not stay this dark permanently. During the following days your eyebrows may feel itchy and they will start peeling. It’s very important to not scratch or rub the area and let the dry skin/flakes fall off naturally.
Your eyebrows should be healed and the final look should be revealed 4-6 weeks after your original procedure. Some parts may look uneven and it’s normal to have some bald spots even. Some of the pigment may fall off during peeling if the cuts are not deep enough.
That is why we suggest coming in for your touch up appointment 6 to 8 weeks after to retouch your eyebrows and to solidify your beautiful brow.
If you experience any unexpected issues during the healing process please contact us for more instructions.
Is sclerotherapy covered by insurance?
No, sclerotherapy is considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance or medicare.
How much does sclerotherapy cost?
The typical cost for sclerotherapy is $350 per treatment session. There will be an additional charge for medical grade compression stockings which we will custom measure you for in office on the day of your first appointment.
What About Complications?
Complications occur in less than 1% of patients. The most common complication is having a small dark mark or bruise at the injection site for a while. For most patients, these marks fade very quickly, usually within two to three weeks. Some patients develop very tiny veins as a result of sclerotherapy. For most patients, these fade quickly and for others very gentle conservative treatment with laser is necessary. Rarely, hyperpigmentation can occur following sclerotherapy. This may be the result of some leakage of blood through the vessel wall at the time of sclerotherapy. Most hyperpigmentation will subside over time. Allergies to sotradecol are rare, but can occur.
Does sclerotherapy hurt?
Most patients find the treatment slightly uncomfortable but much less so than they had imagined.
How much time in between sclerotherapy sessions?
We usually leave 1 month in between sessions to allow time for healing.
Why do I wear compression stockings after a sclerotherapy session?
Compression stockings are used to keep pressure on the area to produce a better result and to increase comfort for the patient. You need to wear these the day of treatment and overnight that night (without removing them). You will then wear them during the day for the next 4 days (total of 5 days). You can remove them at night before going to bed and prior to showering.
How Will My Legs Look?
You will be wearing special dressings and compression stockings. It is a good idea to wear pants or a long skirt for your appointment. It is best if the pants are not too tight or stretchy as the pressure bandages will make your legs look lumpy. The veins do tend to go slightly darker in color before they disappear due to the color of the blood inside the vein as it closes.
How Involved Is The Treatment?
Each session typically lasts 30-45 minutes. Both legs can be treated in one session. Of course, some patients have so many veins that we cannot get to each and every vein in one session.
Are Other Methods Available?
Veinwave – veinwave can be used in along with with sclerotherapy for veins that are smaller in diameter.
Lasers – lasers are not yet at a stage where they are helpful in the treatment of larger leg veins. Lasers are best used for treating abnormal blood vessels on the face, new matting or very fine red surface veins.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
People differ in the extent of their problem and therefore in the amount of treatment needed. The number of treatments is typically between 3-6 treatments.
Will The Veins Come Back?
Treated veins can sometimes recur. Touch-up treatments will minimize this. The more treatments you have, the better the results will be
How Effective Is It?
After several treatments (3-6) most patients can expect a 70-90% improvement in the appearance of their legs. Initially, your legs may look worse because of bruising and blood entrapment. The improvement may be very gradual, with some vessels taking up to 2 months to show maximum benefit. Treatments are usually performed monthly, sometimes more regularly.

What is Plasma Fibroblast Skin
Tightening?
Plasma Fibroblast is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure. It is a revolutionary way to tighten skin, while improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is considered “soft surgery”, because unlike some other skin tightening cosmeticprocedures, no scalpels or other surgical instruments are used. Instead, it uses a plasma device (plasma pen) to trigger a reaction and reduce the volume of excess skin. This non-surgical skin treatment procedure has been safely and effectively used in Europe for many years, and is now gaining popularity throughout the USA.
Besides being a safe and effective way to improve the appearance of your skin, fibroblastskin tightening is much less expensive than surgical methods.
Fibroblast Skin Tightening is the only non-surgical procedure to reduce the volume of excess skin.
How Does Plasma Fibroblasting Work?
Fibroblasts are cells in connective tissue that produce collagen and other fibers. Fibroblasting is performed using a Plasma Pen, which is a highly advanced, non-invasive skin tightening device used to rejuvenate the skin. The ‘Plasma Pen’ (plasma device) creates an electrical discharge to the skin that causes micro-trauma to the epidermal layer (top layers of skin). The precise flashes of plasma trigger natural healing in the epidermal and dermal layers to promote new collagen
growth and rejuvenate the skin’s tone and texture with long lasting results.
The plasma pen is FDA approved to perform fibroblast therapy in order to stimulate production of collagen in the skin.
What Areas Can Be Treated With The
Plasma Pen?
Fibroblast is used to treat a number of skin imperfections, especially around the eye area, including:
- Saggy skin around eyes – eyelid tightening
- Skin tags and sunspots
- Chest accordion lines/wrinkles
- Brow lift
- Lip lift/flip
- Acne scars
- Loose stomach skin post pregnancy
- Wrinkles and lines around the mouth
- Excess, sagging skin on cheeks/neck / jowls
- Loose skin under arms
- Lines on the forehead
- Necklines (turkey neck)
- Sagging earlobes
Fibroblast Skin Tightening with the Plasma Pen is typically done on the face and neck. It can also be used on the hands, abdomen or other areas where the skin is losing elasticity.
What is a Fibroblast Treatment Like?
Treatment begins with an initial consultation to discuss your rejuvenation goals and expectations.
Prior to treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area being treated. The service concludes with the application of a post-treatment cream to aid in healing. Procedure time can take between 30 and 120 minutes, depending on the area being
treated.
Does fibroblasting hurt?
The plasma pen treatment is relatively painless, but skin sensitivity may occur and is normal for up to three days post treatment. Some peeling and mild redness may be experienced.
How long is the downtime?
You may experience some mild swelling for the first few days and carbon crusts (scabs) that form due to the plasma pen. It is very important to avoid the sun for the first week or so, while your skin is healing. If you need to be out in the sun, wear a hat that will shade the entire area you received the treatment. After the tiny scabs shed off, you’ll want to minimize the risk of hyper-pigmentation and apply SPF 40+. Remember, the skin that appears is basically new skin. Think of a newborn baby’s skin and treat your skin accordingly.
Results
Results start to show immediately and continue to improve in the following weeks. Smoother, fresher, youthful looking skin is revealed as cell turnover occurs and collagen production increases, giving your skin the support structure it needs to lift and tighten. Clients can expect to see full results at 12 weeks of natural collagen building following a single Fibroblast treatment.
How long do the results of Fibroblasting last?
Since the skin volume is actually reduced during the treatment, the effects typically last three years! This is similar to what you would see with an invasive procedure. (See the advantages below)
Possible Side Effects
Because Fibroblast is a non-surgical procedure, it has been shown to be a safetreatment. Still, most people are likely to experience minor side effects, including:
- Small, dry spots (scabs), which will naturally lift off as the new skin appears underneath
- Mild swelling during the first few days
Advantages of Fibroblast Plasma Skin
Tightening Treatment vs Surgery
Here are some of the reasons why people choose fibroblast over surgery:
- There is no injectable anesthetic required
- Non surgical treatment – Fibroblast is a non-invasive procedure
- No stitches
- No thinning of the skin
- Minimal risk
- There are very few side effects
- Very little downtime and rapid recovery period
- Procedure is Chemical-free
- Lower cost than surgery
- Quick healing process
Before and After Your Plasma Fibroblasting
Treatment
Like most skin rejuvenation treatments, there are potentially some side effects. To obtain optimal results from the plasma pen, you must follow some important guidelines both before and after the treatment.
Prep Your Skin
At least three to four weeks prior to your fibroblasting treatment, you should avoid tanning your skin. This includes tanning beds, spray tanning, etc. If you have darker pigmented skin, you should use SPF 30 or higher three to four weeks prior to treatment. If you experience or are more likely to have hyperpigmentation (overproduction of pigment in the skin), please call and we can recommend products that can help.
There are procedures that you’ll need to avoid having done in the same area that you will have Fibroblast Pen treatment. These include chemical peels, botox or fillers, microneedling, laser therapy. Surgical procedures must have a wait period before and after Fibroblast Pen of at least 9 or 10 months. You’ll also want to avoid using facial
acids like Retin A, salicylic, and glycolic for 12 weeks post treatment. If you are planningany of the aforementioned procedures, it is important to schedule a consultation to discuss the pre and post time-frame to avoid these procedures.
Post Treatment Care
It is normal to experience a stinging sensation immediately following the procedure, but this usually only lasts for about an hour. If the area becomes swollen, you may apply cold packs, but make sure they are covered with a clean cloth and do not put ice directly on the affected area. If possible, avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medications like
ibuprofen, Advil or aspirin. We will provide you with post-treatment instructions, but here are some things to avoid immediately following the treatment:
- Sleep on your back and elevate head to reduce swelling (if area treated was yourface or neck area).
- Avoid exposure to heat, steam or sweat. This can intensify any inflammation youhave from the treatment.
- Avoid sunblock, makeup, creams or other cosmetic products for 7 days, as theymay irritate the treated area of skin.
- Do not pick at the tiny crusts that form. They will eventually fall off naturally.
- Avoid using washcloths or other abrasive materials to clean the treated area.
- Do not stand under hot water in the shower or submerse the treated area in hot water for at least 3 or 4 days.
- When showering, avoid letting shower gels or hair products come into contact with the treated area.
- Avoid wearing contact lenses for 72 hours if your treatment is around the eye area.
- No exfoliating treatments for 21 days.
- Do not wear make-up until all scabs have fallen off.
- Avoid sun exposure and keep area protected from the sun for at least 3 months to avoid hyperpigmentation.
- Do not sunbathe or use tanning beds for at least 3 months after your procedure.
- Maintain a healthy diet to maximize your results and avoid smoking and alcohol.
- Although you will experience immediate lifting and tightening, be aware that the full effects of treatment will take up to 12 weeks.
- The treated area must be completely healed in order to receive additional treatments.
Skin Studio OKC provides a post care kit which includes SPF 40, cleanser, moisturizer, soothing mist, and a specialty serum. Detailed instructions will be provided, but if you have any questions about this procedure, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help!
How Much Does Fibroblast Cost?
Fibroblast is considerably more affordable than cosmetic surgery and with the added benefits listed above, it is a great option for many people.
*Pricing depends on the treatment area and will be determined during consultation.

What is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is an all in one treatment designed to improve a variety of skin conditions and concerns. Creating tiny punctures in the skin using micro-fine needles, the process allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process, automatically triggering new collagen synthesis. Micro-needling will reduce fine lines, soften deeper wrinkles, rid your skin of acne scars, smooth skin textures and irregularities, and also aid in reducing brown spots or pigmentation concerns.
In addition to the micro-needling treatment itself, there’s also PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma that can play an important role in both your treatment results and recovery. Micro-needling with PRP, commonly referred to as the “Vampire Facial,” uses the power of your own blood products to decrease your treatment downtime and increase the results of your treatment.
What are the benefits?
Micro-needling can significantly reduce and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks as well as stimulate collagen production.
Who should get micro-needling?
If you have any of the following concerns, micro-needling would be a great option for you:
- fine lines
- deeper wrinkles
- acne scarring
- large pores
- loss of collagen
- loss of elasticity
- brown spots
- reduce crows feet
- loss of firmness of skin
- pigmentation issues
- scarring of any kind
- stretch marks
What areas of the body can be micro-needled?
Some of the most common areas are the face, neck, and décolleté. We can also treat acne scarring of the shoulders and back, incisional and trauma scars of the face and body, as well as areas of the body where stretch marks are present. If there are areas not mentioned, schedule a consultation and we can discuss if it will work for the area of concern.
How is the procedure done?
Tonya Cameron RN CMP will apply topical lidocaine to numb the skin and ensure a comfortable and pain-free treatment. Then, a thin layer of topical gel or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is applied and the pen is gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding over the skin until the entire treatment area has been covered.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 45-60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
One of the great things about micro-needling is the “minimal” down time involved. Immediately following the treatment, your skin will have a red or rosy tone to it. The redness will diminish within the first 6-8 hours. 24 hours after the treatment, you can apply makeup to cover any residual redness that remains. While your skin will feel dry, days 3-5 are when most experience a slight “flaking” of their skin. Any flaking can be relieved with moisturizer.
When will I see results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.
When can I wear makeup?
The skin should be kept clean and moisturized for 24 hours post procedure. You will be sent home with a post care treatment instructions and topical serum.
Can I get other treatments with/after Micro-needling?
Absolutely! While some patients are perfectly happy receiving microneedling alone, many patients choose to combine it with other services. There are many treatments that work really well together and Tonya can customize these services to suit your needs. We can discuss all your options during your consultation.
What is Li-FT?
Saline solution is a common, effective approach to lightening tattoos. However, it is a slower process than other treatments, this method is popular because it is much safer than other removal procedures. Li-FT saline product has recently been developed to remove unwanted pigment from tattoos. This service is done using the same traditional equipment (machine, needles, etc) used in the tattooing process. However, instead of pigment, this saline solution is implanted into the skin. A sterile solution is tattooed into the skin to make the skin release the pigment.
Areas of treatment:
• Eyebrows
• Microbladed Eyebrows
• Eyeliner
• Lip Liner
• Finger, Neck, Wrist, Chest, Shoulder Tattoo
• Any body tattoo smaller than a deck of cards
The procedure is basically an osmosis process. Li-FT works using osmosis and your body's natural healing process to lift pigment up to the surface. This method of removal decreases the chance of causing lasting damage to your melanocytes (color-producing skin cells), and permanently affecting the integrity of the skin. This type of removal is safer and has fewer risks of hypo or hyperpigmentation, as well as blistering and scarring than laser treatments.
It can benefit those who have had an old permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure, some mistakes as well as remove other blurred, discolored or misshapen eyebrows. The healing time is similar to initial pigmentation.
Clients should expect three to four procedures before they see best results. Clients must be realistic in their expectations, they should expect a lightening of the tattoo, not full removal. Many times it is only necessary to remove a small part of the color in order to give new eyebrows. This is why a consultation is necessary to determine what level or removal or lightening is best.
What is PRP?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a safe, non-surgical procedure that is used to help restore hair counts and density in those with thinning or balding scalps. PRP is quite literally a high concentration of platelets surrounded in its own plasma. This platelet rich plasma is packed with fundamental growth factors that help to stimulate the skin and hair follicles.
What causes hair loss in women?
Hair thinning in women which affects nearly 40 million American women is mainly due to heredity and can start any time after puberty. However, we also know that female pattern hair loss can be strongly influenced by age, nutrition, stress, surgery, medications, illness, social/lifestyle factors, hair care and more. As hair follicles weaken and stop producing hair, hair loss occurs.
What causes hair loss in men?
In men we know that hair loss follows a very specific, progressive pattern that is passed on through heredity and is triggered by hormone–specifically dihydrotestosterone or DHT. An estimated 60 million American men are suffering with male pattern hair loss. As hair follicles miniaturize and weaken, coverage of the scalp diminishes leaving thinning or balding areas.
Who is the ideal candidate for PRP treatments for hair loss?
We focus on two types of hair loss patients when it comes to PRP treatments: patients with areas of “weak quality” hair growth on the scalp, where functioning hair follicles can still be observed, and patients with small areas of alopecia areata. In our experience, these are the patients who appear to have the greatest success with PRP hair regrowth treatments.
What is the procedure like?
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm comfortably in our office and spun down in a specialized centrifuge that separates the platelets from the other components of the blood. Once the PRP is isolated, it is then injected into your scalp and helps to stimulate hair follicles due to the high concentration of natural growth factors. Because your PRP is isolated from your own blood (autologous PRP), it is very safe and very effective.
The injections are quick and easy. A small needle is used to place the PRP directly into the scalp through a series of small injections that feel like a pinch. A device is used to vibrate the affected area on your scalp while the injections are being performed to keep you comfortable. The entire procedure takes about 5 minutes once the PRP has been isolated. After the procedure, the scalp can feel a bit “full” because of the amount of PRP injected, but this sensation improves quickly. Typically, we expect you to be able to return to your normal activities without any downtime.
How many treatments do you need?
Based on the literature, we recommend a series of 3 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart. After completion of this series, we recommend another session around month 6 for the best possible outcome. Many patients then come back for 1-2 maintenance sessions yearly.
What are the risks and benefits of PRP treatments?
PRP is a comfortable, in-office, non-surgical procedure that takes about an hour start-to-finish, and most of that time is spent in the preparation phase… meaning you, the patient, is just relaxing! Most patients notice a brief period of inflammation during which their scalp remains somewhat pink and numb for a few hours. Swelling is rare (about 15% of the time) and if it occurs is noticeable in the forehead or around the eye area on the next day. Any swelling takes about a day or two to resolve. Hair growth improvements can typically be measured in about three months, but it takes six to twelve months to visually “see” the difference in photos and in the mirror.
Patients with certain blood disorders or on certain medications are not candidates for PRP treatments. PRP is immunologically neutral and poses little risk of allergy, hypersensitivity or foreign-body reactions.
Is there a recovery period or downtime after PRP treatments?
There is no activity restriction after a PRP treatment. Patients may shower/shampoo/condition their hair normally just several hours after the treatment and resume normal daily and athletic activities. As mentioned previously, some brief mild inflammation noticeable as redness/pinkness and numbness of the scalp may be present for several hours. No harsh chemical coloring or perming treatments should be performed for at least 72 hours. Use of topical hair growth treatments like Minoxidil 82M or similar can resume the next day. Laser therapy treatments can also be resumed the next day.
Are there any contraindications or other factors that would make someone ineligible for PRP?
Different areas of the scalp may respond differently to PRP depending on the amount of weak hair follicles present in each zone. Generally, with the exception of small round areas of alopecia areata, locations where severe depletion of follicles has occurred should not be treated. The vast majority of healthy individuals can easily undergo PRP treatments. Certain conditions like blood and platelet disorders, chronic liver disease, presence of an active severe infection, cardiovascular or hemodynamic instability and/or the presence of anti-coagulation therapy (e.g. warfarin) would make PRP contraindicated. Recent steroid treatments and smoking are relative contraindications and will be discussed at your consultation.
How long do the benefits of PRP treatments last?
According to published reports, “plain” PRP tends to improve hair caliber and hair growth for about four to six weeks, requiring multiple repeated treatments as often as every other month. On average, however, most patients will require their repeat PRP treatment after an average of one year in order to maintain the hair growth effects.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRP FOR TREATING THE UNDER-EYE AREA?
PRP injections in the under-eye area are an excellent treatment for addressing fine lines and wrinkles in this region for optimum rejuvenation. PRP contains growth factors that stimulate collagen production when injected into the skin. By stimulating new collagen production, platelet-rich plasma helps tighten loose skin around the eyes to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles like crow’s feet, while also eliminating bags underneath the eyes.
PRP under eye treatment is also an excellent way to treat dark circles as they increase blood flow through this region. Puffiness and discoloration around the eyes are less visible with as little as one treatment. While the results are not permanent, these injections can help patients looking for a more long-term option when it comes to looking youthful and refreshed, especially when compared to other injectable services provided by med spas around the United States.
How is the PRP Under-Eye treatment performed?
For PRP treatments in the under-eye area, platelet-rich plasma is injected into the skin using a very fine needle to minimize pain. This injection treatment can be combined with other stimulating rejuvenation procedures like microneedling or laser resurfacing to give superior results for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and even acne scarring. PRP injections should only be performed by providers who have received training for this service to reduce the risk of complications caused by incorrect administration.
The time needed for PRP under-eye treatments is approximately 30 minutes from the preparation of the face to the end of the patient’s appointment. This allows patients to have their treatments done quickly during their lunch hour–ensuring even the busiest of patients can obtain results with platelet-rich plasma injections!
WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH A PRP UNDER-EYE TREATMENT?
PRP injections in the under-eye area are typically used to treat wrinkles around the eyes, dark circles, and puffiness. During an initial consultation appointment, the treatment provider will determine the patient’s skin health and unique goals to determine if they will see the desired results. It is important that patients understand that platelet-rich plasma injections are not designed to give the same results as surgical procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid lift.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME OR SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH PRP UNDER-EYE TREATMENTS?
With PRP under-eye treatments, patients typically have no downtime needed for recovery and minimal side effects or complications. Some patients may experience a mild tingling sensation after the platelet-rich plasma is injected into the skin, but it resolves on its own quickly and does not cause much discomfort for most.
Most people can resume normal activities the following day, though they should ask their provider about aftercare instructions and any changes they should monitor. Other side effects that may be noticed after treatments include bruising at the injection site, minor swelling, and mild itching and irritation.
Patients are educated on the process of PRP injections and can ask questions about the process. Because platelet-rich plasma injections use the patient’s own plasma from their blood, it is non-toxic, natural, and has no risk of allergic reactions. When properly performed by a trained and experienced professional, patients can expect safety and efficacy from their treatments.
After treatment, patients are encouraged to avoid touching the injection site for the next 24 hours and avoid taking Aspirin for pain relief as it can lead to complications. Patients should also avoid alcohol, exfoliation, and massage for approximately 72 hours after their procedure has been performed. Icing the area and sleeping with the head elevated are also recommendations from providers to reduce swelling. Following these aftercare instructions can significantly reduce the risk of any complications or problems arising from the procedure.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PRP UNDER-EYETREATMENT?
PRP injections are best suited for patients who have signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles or puffiness under the eyes.
These treatments are not recommended for patients with active acne, rosacea, lupus, or other autoimmune diseases. Platelet-rich plasma is also not appropriate for patients who have a history of bleeding disorders or use blood-thinning medications because PRP requires some blood to achieve results.
While PRP injections are used throughout the body to reduce the appearance of aging by stimulating collagen production in new ways, they are incredibly effective at addressing under-eye issues.
What are facial fillers and how do they work?
Dermal fillers are cosmetic products made for injection. They are typically comprised of natural substances, such as hyaluronic acid or calcium-based microspheres. Tonya Cameron RN CMP will inject filler products in specific areas under the skin to correct for signs of aging.
What are the areas that Dermal Fillers can be used?
- Lip lines
- Lip fullness
- Cheeks
- Under eyes (tear trough)
- Bridge of nose
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Marionette lines
- Mental crease (chin crease)
- Jaw & chin augmentation
- Scars (acne scars or other)
- Hand rejuvenation
- Earlobe rejuvenation
What does Dermal Filler treatment accomplish?
Signs of aging due to volume and structure loss typically results in the appearance of lines, furrows, and wrinkles. Tonya Cameron RN CMP knows that correcting this loss of structure is key to restoring a more youthful appearance, and when done in combination with wrinkle treatments and a comprehensive skin care regimen, can make the skin appear younger and healthier.
What types of Dermal Fillers are used at Skin Studio Okc?
- Restylane
- Juvederm
- Radiesse
- Sculptra
What can I expect during my treatment?
Tonya Cameron RN CMP will start your visit with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your specific needs and budget. When you arrive for the procedure visit, your makeup will be removed and your skin cleansed. Next, a topical anesthesia numbing cream will be applied. Some people may feel stinging or burning sensation as the filler is injected. Since most dermal fillers are combined with an injectable anesthetic, this sensation is temporary. The product will be hand sculpted or lightly massaged after injection. Most treatment sessions take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the areas treated.
Redness and swelling will be present immediately after and for a few days following the procedure, as it is normal and expected. Bruising may also occur, and is typically experienced after treatment of areas such as the lips. Intermittent icing is recommended to the treated area for a day following the procedure. Make up is safe to apply immediately following the treatment.
How long will my Dermal Filler last?
You can expect your filler to last on average between 9-18 months.
Please note:
If you have a special event scheduled it is always advised to get your filler done 4-6 weeks BEFORE your event. This allows proper healing time due to bruising.
If you are having your lips tattooed, it is best to have your lip filler done 4 weeks BEFORE your tattoo or PMU appointment. Aids in best color saturation of pigment.
WHEN DO I SEE RESULTS AFTER MY SCULPTRA TREATMENT?
Sculptra’s effect is not immediate, but rather takes about a month before tissue growth begins, and this continues for 4-6 months. The enhancement lasts for around 2 years, or even more.
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR A SCULPTRA TREATMENT?
No allergy testing is needed. Before having any Sculptra injections, patients should avoid using aspirin products, Vitamin E supplements and other medications that can thin the blood and may increase bruising.
RECOVERY
The Sculptra injection experience is virtually painless and supremely gentle, however some clients may experience mild stinging, swelling or bruising, similar in scope to a sunburn. These reactions are usually very brief and will subside on their own within a few hours or a day at most. We recommend taking an anti-inflammatory or using an ice pack on the skin for relief.
PRX-T33 is an non-injectable bio-revitalizer that induces dermal bio-stimulation which goes deep within the tissue without harming the epidermis (top layer of skin). It provides all the benefits of a high percentage TCA peel but without the associated side effects such as discomfort, peeling and downtime. The treatment provides immediate hydration, firmness and tightening.
Indications- Skin smoothing for lines and wrinkles
- Skin tightening

Trichloroacetic acid 33%: It stimulates the growth of fibroblasts in the skin for college regeneration, at the same time it has an anti-inflammatory effect, effectively cleans pores from accumulated cutaneous fat, debris of cosmetics and micro particles of dirt, destroys pathogenic bacteria that cause acne formation, and increases the elasticity of the dermis.
Hydrogen peroxide: It has a strong antiseptic effect on the treated area of the skin. Upon contact with the epidermis, hydrogen peroxide promotes the release of a huge amount of oxygen, which mechanically cleans the skin surface from all types of contaminants. In addition, hydrogen peroxide fills skin cells with pure oxygen which increases the sensitivity of receptors.
Kojic acid: The main purpose of this component is to brighten the treated area of the face. The chemical composition of this acid suppresses the production of melanin. Formerly, it was used to eliminate pigmentation, freckles, to remove traces of post-acne, chickenpox, small scars and cicatrices. This way a long and painful procedure turned into a quick and painless one.
How many treatments are needed? Treatment every 7-10 days Best results after 3-5 treatments depending upon skin condition and desired results
Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin are all brand-name medications that temporarily weaken muscular activity when injected under the skin and into the specific muscle. These medicines are different patented formulations of a purified protein called Botulinum Toxin-A. They all work by chemically disabling the communication pathways between the nerve and muscle, and are used cosmetically to reduce dynamic wrinkles in the upper face.
Do the injections hurt?
A very tiny needle is used, the discomfort is minimal and numbing is always an option.
Which areas can be treated?
- Frown lines above and between the eyebrows
- Forehead
- Crow’s feet
- Upper lip
- Outer mouth
- Lower face
- Jawline
- Neck
- Gummy smile
- Lip Flip
- Hyper-Sweating (Botox only)
What are the differences between Botox, Dysport Jeuveau and Xeomin?
They are all neurotoxins, they have key differences in formulations which can influence dosage and how quickly you can expect to see results.
How much will I need?
The amount, or dose of Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau or Xeomin will depend on the area, strength of the muscles being injected and your desired results. We will discuss your needs, expectations, outcome and your budget at your consultation.
How long will it last, when does it take effect?
The formulators of each product state Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau or Xeomin will last up to 3-4 months. We will discuss the variation possibilities when you come in for your consultation. The product begins to take effect immediately with the final look present at 14 days.
What is NovaThreads?
The idea behind NovaThreads is to place a thin suture under the skin in a way that produces a lifting effect and stimulates the body’s natural repair processes to build more collagen.* The sutures are made from polydioxanone, a flexible, absorbable material that is widely used in surgical applications and is considered to be very safe for implanting under the skin.*
NovaThreads can be implanted in two ways; a “mesh” structure and a lifting approach.*
For the mesh structure, your Skin Studio OKC provider will implant several threads that cross each other perpendicularly, much like a hash tag sign (#).* This is not meant to provide an immediate lifting effect, but rather to stimulate the growth of collagen in the area to produce long term skin tightening.*
For a more immediate effect, your provider can place individual NovaThreads sutures in a way that pulls the tissues upward and creates contour.* In order to keep them in place, the sutures are designed with tiny, flexible barbs that latch on to the tissues as they are placed under the skin and keep the tissues from migrating back to the original position.* This approach can be used to give the face a more lifted look, reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, and even provide more contour to the neck.*
What NovaThreads Treats
NovaThreads can be used to address a number of cosmetic issues, including the loss of contour in the face and neck.* The central goal of the lifting procedure is to offset the age-related downward migration of tissues to give the patient a more youthful appearance.*
How Long Does NovaThreads Last?
The PDO Threads dissolve within 6 months. The collagen your body generates will maintain your results for up to 1-1.5 years.
What to Expect During NovaThreads Treatment
Your provider will use tiny needles to guide the sutures into place under the skin. Only local anesthetic is used and there are no visible side effects after the treatment.* A typical NovaThreads treatment is quite fast and can even be performed on your lunch break.*
This is an outpatient procedure, which makes it very convenient and reduces chances of side effects commonly associated with surgical treatments like a face lift or a neck lift.*
Does NovaThreads Hurt?
Because Skin Studio OKC wil use very small needles and apply local anesthetic, the discomfort from the procedure is minimal.*
Does NovaThreads Leave Scars?
The incisions are made using needles, which means any resulting scars will be very difficult to see.* Further, any marks typically heal and fade quickly.*
Is NovaThreads Limited to Face Treatments?
Although this procedure is commonly used to create a rejuvenating effect in the face, NovaThreads can also be used on other parts of the body, such as the abdomen, arms and legs.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and remove fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”, technically called “vellus” hair. It can be used as an alternative to laser treatments and microdermabrasion or along with them for an enhanced result. This procedure will give your skin a more radiant appearance. Following the treatment, makeup application is smoother and other skincare products are able to penetrate deeper in turn making them more effective. Your face will have never felt softer. It’s like baby skin!
Am I a good candidate?
The ideal candidate for Dermaplaning has aging, dry, rough, or uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning can also help reduce the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines and superficial hyperpigmentation.
Is the treatment safe?
This treatment is extremely safe when performed by Tonya Cameron RN CMP. There is no more risk to the skin than when you shave your legs. There is also no downtime associated with this procedure.
Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?
Dermaplaning is effective by performing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but Dermaplaning is entirely painless. There are risks of cuts on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks and scrapes heal within 24-48 hours.
Will it make the hair on my face grow back thicker and darker?
No. There are different types of hair that grow on the body; vellus hair and terminal hair. Vellus hair is found on most areas of the body except palms, soles, lips and genital areas, whereas terminal hairs are found on the scalp, underarms and pubic region. The soft and fine vellus hair grows back at the same rate and texture.
What is the benefit of adding a chemical peel with Dermaplaning?
Hyperkeratosis is a build up of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. By removing this initial layer, a chemical peel is able to penetrate deeper into the dermis resulting in a more effective treatment. The conjunction of dermaplaning and a chemical peel leaves the skin refreshed and rejuvenated. Together they promote new skin growth and target problems such as aging, sun spots and environmental damage. It is an easy add on with amazing results.
How long is the treatment? How often can I have it done?
Dermaplaning takes anywhere between 30-45 minutes and can be performed every 3-4 weeks. The treatment itself removes approximately 21 days worth of dead skin so it is important to let your skin rejuvenate before your next appointment.
What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?
Both options are a form of physical exfoliation. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells from the skin, microdermabrasion also exfoliate the surface of the skin, but not as thoroughly or deeply as dermaplaning does. If you choose dermaplaning you get better results and far more bang for your buck.
When it comes to hair removal, if you say “waxing,” some might grimace and squirm. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misinformation about the procedure. The good news is when performed by a professional can be painless and produce beautifully smooth skin for extended periods of time. Skin Studio Okc has perfected the technique, so clients feel comfortable and happy with the results.
Will I experience Pain?
It depends on the person’s tolerance level. Some can handle a little discomfort better than others. It also depends on the hair’s thickness. The procedure is performed in a way to cleanly and quickly remove facial hair.
Does skin irritation occur?
Some may experience minor irritation around the area of removal while others may not. The hair root’s thickness is also a factor for whether or not irritation occurs. If any redness or other sensitivities appear, they typically clear up in less than 24 hours.
Will the hair grow back thicker?

Will I have to deal with ingrown hairs?
Because the entire hair follicle is removed, the skin surrounding the waxed area tends to become hard and may result in ingrown hairs. One surefire way to prevent them is applying a very gentle scrub product on the area at least three days after the procedure. Exfoliate once or twice a week, and apply an antimicrobial and antibacterial skin-safe product to the waxed area.
