General Description | Clear, healthy skin begins with a healthy microbiome – a collective of microorganisms that naturally reside as a unique environment on the surface of your skin. Your microbiome is as unique as your fingerprint, and when balance is disrupted the skin becomes susceptible to a variety of unwanted conditions. Support your skin with a daily dose of Acidophilus Probiotic Facial Cream.

Featured Ingredients:

Lactobacillus Ferment | Lactobacillus is a type of beneficial bacteria that naturally exists within the body. This bacteria help maintain normal healthy flora by competing with harmful, infection-causing bacteria. Benefits for the skin include inhibiting negative bacterial growth and reducing inflammation.

Silver | A safe and highly effective broad spectrum antimicrobial which does not alter or disrupt the balance of skin flora. Silver promotes the healing process and is especially helpful in reducing symptoms of stressed, sensitive, and problematic skin. Silver is also used as a natural preservative.

Hyaluronic Acid | Capable of binding 1000 times its weight in water, this superior hydrator comprised primarily of sugars, traps moisture in the skin, resulting in increased moisture content necessary for all skin types.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter | Obtained from the Shea Tree, this natural fat is a rich emollient that immediately increases moisture and enhances barrier function. Its moisturizing properties mimic those produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. As a result, it is considered to be a NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor), which helps to regenerate the skin, keep bacteria out, and maintain the epidermal structure.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract | Improves skin hydration and helps increase the rate of healing. Aloe Vera contains calming properties and helps repair damaged epidermal cells.

Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract | Rich in vitamin c and amino acids, this calming extract reduces inflammation, regulates moisture, strengthens acid mantle, and protects the skin from free radical damage.

Chamomile Extract | This soothing, anti-inflammatory extract is proven to be very beneficial for ultra sensitive skin. It is easily absorbed and helps to increase skin lipids, hydration, and barrier function.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride | A hydrating emollient derived from coconut oil and glycerin that provides lightweight moisture and helps to deliver vitamins and other active ingredients into the epidermis.

General Theory [microbiome (mykrōbīōm) and probiotics] | The microbiome is an active collection of trillions of microbes residing in and on the body. Comprised of over 1000 different species of fungi, viruses, and bacteria, including probiotics, these microbial cells out number human cells 10 to 1. This micro ecosystem carries out a variety of metabolic reactions vital for human health. The “friendly” bacteria, probiotics are nonpathogenic, beneficial microorganisms that work to create microbial balance. When the microbiome is disrupted and not in proper balance, the skin and/or body becomes more susceptible to harmful bacteria (including acne-causing bacteria), pollutants, free radicals, and allergens.

The majority of skin microbiata are found in the epidermis; the layer of the skin that was once considered to be relatively inconsequential may actually hold the key for several solutions to commonly unresolved skin diseases. New research is finding that those with acne and rosacea prone skin are showing remarkable improvements with the daily use of probiotics, taken internally and applied topically.

A healthy microbiome creates a protective shield; harmful microorganisms on the skin are recognized as foreign agents by the immune system, provoking it to action, resulting in inflammation. When applied topically, probiotics sit on the surface of the skin and interfere with the bad microbes ability to stimulate an immune response, thus preventing the inflammatory response commonly associated with problematic skin types.

Probiotics also create antimicrobial substances that behave similar to actual antibotic medications, most likely through competitive inhibition. The beneficial bacteria battles the harmful microbes for the necessary life-supporting resources. The result is a reduction of pathogens and toxin producing bacteria.

Often, people with acneic skin use antibacterial products. While antibacterial products help to kill acne-causing bacteria, they also kill the beneficial bacteria; as a result, this depletes our body’s microbiome and leaves us susceptible to bacterial infection. The daily use of probiotics helps to restore our body’s natural ability to prevent these infections from occurring.
